The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq has been spied undisguised during a photo shoot.

 

Set to be unveiled next month, the Ioniq is an aerodynamic five-door hatchback that features a prominent grille, LED daytime running lights, and slender headlights. The model also has black accents, an upward sweeping beltline, and a relatively tall rear end.

 

The tinted windows prevent us from seeing the interior but previous teaser images have shown the model will have a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment system, and a wide center console. The images also revealed a push-button ignition and angular air vents.

 

Hyundai has been coy on specifics but the automaker has already confirmed the model will ride on an all-new platform that was designed to accommodate an assortment of eco-friendly powertrain options. These will include hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric variants. The first two variants will feature a hybridized powertrain with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, while the latter model will rely solely on an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.

 

The Ioniq will be unveiled in South Korea in January, before being shown in European-specification at the Geneva Motor Show. It will eventually arrive stateside at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
