Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV speculatively rendered

Rolls-Royce’s confirmed SUV has received an unofficial digital interpretation courtesy of RM Design.

 

The most expensive SUV money can buy these days is Bentley’s Bentayga, but that will be dethroned by the end of 2018 when Rolls-Royce will launch its own model in this segment. It will carry a starting price of around $327,000 and approximately 1,000 units will be assembled each year. The model is currently in the early development phase and we remind you RR released images of a test mule earlier this year featuring the body of a shortened Phantom Series II.

 

Codenamed Cullinan, the first Rolls-Royce SUV will ride on a bespoke platform, but it will get some of the components from the upcoming BMW X7. Company boss, Torsten Muller, has promised a “magic-carpet” ride thanks to a newly developed suspension. We also know it will have just about the same length as the Phantom and it will get its V12 engine.

 

Although it won’t be a true off-roader, Muller said the vehicle will be capable of travelling “from the opera to the Alps, with enough room for passengers and all their gear.” He also mentioned it will have four-wheel drive and is going to have some off-road capabilities.

 

This speculative render created by RM Design shows how the Cullinan could look like once it will go on sale by the end of 2018. Chances are Rolls-Royce is working on a concept that will probably be unveiled sometime in 2017 as a way to attract the attention of those who are on the look for a very luxurious SUV, but are not too fond of the Bentayga.
