2017 Honda Odyssey spied for the first time
The minivan segment is largely overlooked but Honda is looking to make a splash with the 2017 Odyssey.
Recently spied undergoing testing from a far distance, the redesigned van is heavily disguised but some of the styling cues appear to be different than the trademark images that have been floating around the internet. As our spy photographer points out, the prototype appears to have the sliding door track tucked into the bottom of the rear-side window, while the trademark images showed the door track installed lower into the van’s bodywork. The prototype features a shark fin antenna, side indicator lights and larger headlights.
The minivan will be based on the same platform that underpins the new Pilot so the model could use the same 3.5-liter V6 engine that develops 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque.
The redesigned Honda Odyssey is expected to be unveiled later this year or early next year, so look for a possible debut at either the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show or the 2017 North American International Auto Show.
Regardless of when the van debuts, it will face stiff competition from the 2017 Chrysler Town & Country which will be unveiled on Monday.
