2017 Chevrolet Bolt performance specs announced, has 200 hp

Chevrolet   has used the North American International Auto Show   to release performance specifications for the 2017 Bolt EV .

 

Originally unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, the Bolt features a 60 kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor that develops 200 horsepower and up to 266 pound-feet of torque. While that doesn't sound like much, it will enable the hatchback to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds, hit a top speed of 91 mph and travel in excess of 200 miles on a single charge.

 

Speaking of the battery, it weigh 960 pounds and has a nickel-rich lithium-ion chemistry that provides "improved thermal operating performance over other chemistries." The battery also comes standard with an 8-year/ 100,000 limited warranty.

 

When the battery is depleted, owners can use the car's 7.2 kW onboard charger. Chevrolet says this will provide customers with about 50 miles of range in less than two hours when connected to a 240 volt wall box. With the optional DC Fast Charger, owners can expect to receive 90 miles of range in just 30 minutes.
