大众宣布，将于明年启用新的1.5升涡轮增压系列引擎。大众CEO Herbert Diess在北美车展期间透露，大众计划推出一系列1.5升涡轮增压汽油和柴油引擎用于即将发布的第七代高尔夫改款车。虽然该车将于今年底发布，但1.5升引擎不会同步推出，而是要等到明年才能提供。1.5升涡轮增压汽油引擎将替代目前的1.4升TSI，它采用停缸和直喷技术以及新的涡轮增压器。而1.5升柴油引擎则替代人们熟悉的1.6升TDI引擎。大众表示，1.5升引擎生产成本将比其要替代的引擎更高，但新引擎更轻，油耗更低。大众计划在为旗下不同品牌，包括奥迪、西雅特和斯柯达等各种车型提供1.5升引擎，但不同车型调校的功率有所差异。不过，Herbert Diess解释说，这台1.5升引擎并非全新设计，而是在现行的1.4升TSI和1.6升TDI基础上改进的，适用于各种小型和紧凑车型。

 

Volkswagen has announced a new family of turbocharged 1.5-liter engines is being prepared for a 2017 launch.

 

Speaking at the Detroit Auto Show, VW brand CEO Herbert Diess revealed plans to introduce 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines in the upcoming Golf VII facelift. While the car will be introduced towards the end of the year, the motors won’t be available from day one as VW says these two will be offered starting 2017.

 

The turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine will serve as a direct successor of the current 1.4 TSI and is going to come with cylinder deactivation technology, as well as direct-injection and a new turbocharger. As for the 1.5-liter diesel, it’s going to replace the familiar 1.6 TDI.

 

VW mentions production costs will be higher compared to the current units, but the new ones will be lighter and more frugal. The plan is to sell both engines in different states of tune and on a variety of models from the Volkswagen Group, including Audi, SEAT, and Skoda.

 

These won’t be all-new engines as Herbert Diess explains the 1.5-liter units will be evolutions of the current 1.4 TSI and 1.6 TDI powering a wide variety of small and compact VAG cars.
