BMW 7 Series gets Mini's 2.0 turbo in Turkey, China

BMW has launched in China and Turkey an entry-level 730i version of its 7 Series flagship model.

 

A quick look at the model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine shows this is the same unit that powers the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works, the BMW 225, and the facelifted BMW 330i. Based on the B48 engine family, this motor generates 258 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque in the 730i.

 

A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission comes as standard, sending power to the rear wheels. This setup provides a 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration in 6.2 seconds (6.3 seconds in the 730Li) with top speed electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Compared to the 740i, the new entry-level model is 0.7 seconds slower.

 

The combined fuel consumption stands at 40.55 miles per gallon (5.8 liters per 100 kilometers) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 134 grams per kilometer.

 

Pricing for the 730i in Turkey starts from $209,925 (€193,698), while the model is currently unavailable at BMW’s Chinese website.
