Porsche 718 Cayman S render seems just about right

The upcoming Porsche 718 Cayman S has been speculatively rendered based on official images of the recently introduced 718 Boxster.

 

By showing us the revised Boxster last week, the folks over at Porsche pretty much previewed the updated Cayman as well which should follow shortly. Independent artist X-Tomi Design from Hungary has now made the digital effort to apply a fixed metal roof on the Boxster to create a very accurate preview of the real deal.

 

As you would expect, the facelifted Cayman will remain instantly recognizable, but with a more evolved design that will certainly boost the model’s appeal even further. For some people, perhaps some of the excitement will be lost after making the switch to turbocharging, but bare in mind the 718 Cayman is going to be faster, more powerful, and considerably more economical.

 

The attached render actually depicts the hotter S variant which will get the new turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine pushing out 350 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Performances should be very close to the 718 Boxster S that needs four seconds until 60 miles (96 kilometers per hour) when equipped with the PDK transmission and the optional Sport Chrono Package.

 

Chances are we will see the 718 Cayman next month at the Geneva Motor Show before Porsche will kick off deliveries in the summer. Pricing should be roughly in the same ballpark as the soft top which starts at $56,000 in United States and €53,646 at home in Germany.
