2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet spied stretching out

Spy photos show Mercedes-AMG is working on a warm version of the C Class Cabriolet that will likely wear the “C43” moniker once it will be out later this year.

 

The C450 AMG Sport as we know it right now is expected to make the switch to the “C43” moniker and the cabrio version spotted here will also use the same designation. Models labeled “43” will sit right underneath the flagship “63” editions and in the case of the C43 Cabriolet it will compete directly with the BMW 435i Cabriolet.

 

This thinly disguised prototype has camouflage only on the rear half of the car to hide a design which will be very close to the C43 Coupe due next month in Geneva. The C43 will look slightly more aggressive than the regular C Class Cabriolet thanks to larger air intakes, beefier bumpers, along with larger alloy wheels and a more menacing exhaust setup.

The biggest change will be underneath the hood where the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet will feature a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts) and 383 pound-feet (520 newton meters) of torque. Output will be sent exclusively to both axles with help from a seven-speed automatic transmission.

 

Taking into account the sedan sprints to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 4.9 seconds, expect the convertible to complete the task in around 5 - 5.1 seconds.

 

The regular Mercedes C Class Cabriolet will be unveiled in a month at the Geneva Motor Show and will be shortly followed by the C43. Further down the line, the C63 will join the range with a larger biturbo 4.0-liter V8.
