Rolls-Royce Ghost, Wraith gain bespoke Black Badge editions

Rolls-Royce has taken the wraps off a new Black Badge edition for the Ghost and Wraith models created to lure in younger customers.

 

Both cars have received a black gloss Spirit of Ecstasy figurine along with several black exterior trim pieces, including the badges. In addition, some of the chromed surfaces have received a darker finish for a more elegant appearance while the composite carbon fiber alloy wheels are new to the range and come with aluminum hubs.

 

Both cars come as standard with LED headlights and with a series of interior cabin tweaks, such as the darker air vents, carbon fiber composite trim, and a unique centerpiece clock.

 

It’s more than just making these two look prettier as Rolls-Royce has also upgraded the Ghost’s biturbo 6.6-liter V12 by 40 horsepower (30 kilowatts) and 44 pound-feet (60 newton meters) to 603 hp (450 kW) and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm.) In addition, the eight-speed automatic gearbox of the Ghost now has a sportier setup by keeping the lower gear longer to enable higher rpms.

 

The Wraith’s 623-hp V12 engine has also been massaged and it now delivers 642 lb-ft (869 Nm) of torque, up by 95 lb-ft (70 Nm.) Moreover, the elegant coupe has an upgraded air suspension, optimized drive shafts, and the same optimized gearbox as the Ghost. The extra power of both models is being matched with a beefier braking system featuring one-inch larger discs at the front axle.
