Mercedes C Class Cabrio goes topless in Geneva

Mercedes has dropped the top on the new C Class Cabriolet.

 

Set to go on sale in the United States this summer, the model is based on the C Class Coupe and features a power retractable soft top that can be opened or closed in less than 20 seconds at speeds up to 31 miles per hour.

 

The déjà vu design continues in the cabin but the convertible has been equipped with an Airscarf neck-level heating system and new matte silver chrome controls for the retractable roof. A variety of different options will be available including heat-reflecting leather seats.

 

In the United States, two different engines will be available. The entry-level C300 Cabriolet has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 130 mph.

 

Moving up to the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet rewards buyers with a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system which enables the car to run from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph.

 

Europeans will be available to select from a variety of different engines including everything from a four-cylinder diesel with 170 hp to the aforementioned V6.
