Despite the many tweaks applied, pricing for Subaru’s rear-wheel-drive sports coupe inches up only a little bit. The 2017 Subaru BRZ will start at $26,315 in its base Premium trim with a manual transmission, while the Limited trim will cost $28,465 with a manual and $29,565 if buyers elect the six-speed automatic transmission. Those prices represent increases of $125 compared to the 2016 BRZ Premium and $275 versus last year’s Limited model.
The 2017 Subaru BRZ received some serious changes, starting with revisions to its 2.0-liter flat-four engine that bumped outputs from 200 to 205 horsepower, and from 151 to 156 pound-feet of torque (automatic-transmission models get the old power ratings). Subaru engineers also revised the car’s suspension, fitted new front and rear fascias, and updated the interior.
New for 2017, the Limited trim can be equipped with a $1,195 Performance package. The pack brings Brembo four-piston front brake calipers, Sachs shock absorbers, and special black 17-inch wheels. Buyers who want something that stands out from the track-day crowd can elect the Series.Yellow model. Limited to just 500 copies, it comprises yellow paint, the Performance package upgrades, plus yellow interior stitching throughout the cabin. That model starts at $29,695 – only $35 more than buying a BRZ Limited with the Performance pack upgrades.
The 2017 Subaru BRZ hits dealers this fall, though buyers who want the Performance package or Series.Yellow will have to wait until early 2017.
