日前，有媒体爆料称，广汽乘用车将在9月份正式改名为广汽传祺，虽然目前还没有更加详细的信息，但吉奥、中兴两个品牌估计是真正要走到生命尽头了。事实上，随着传祺品牌的热销和吉奥、中兴品牌的滞售，广汽早就已经开始对吉奥、中兴的原工厂进行升级改造。广汽传祺的目标是在今年赶超广丰、明年赶超广本，成为广汽集团旗下最具市场竞争力的品牌，但就其原来在广州的两条生产线而言，产能不足成为主要短板。改造广汽吉奥杭州工厂，广汽中兴的宜昌工厂，所有工厂全部达产之后，广汽乘用车的年产能刚刚好100万辆，而目前的产能为60万辆。当杭州和宜昌两座基地改造完成后，广汽传祺的工厂布局将更合理，华南、华中和西北都有了差能覆盖，也势必会更加有利于广汽传祺开拓全国市场。
GAC Motor faces changing name, preserving Trumpchi
Currently，it is exposed from media that GAC Motor will be renamed as GAC Trumpchi in September. Although no detailed information has been disclosed, we can conclude that Gonow and ZX will meet ends in the near future.
In fact, GAC has started the upgrades and transformation of Gonow and ZX factories in the earlier time when the two brands met sluggish demands. GAC Trumpchi plans to catch up with GAC Toyota this year and exceed GAC Honda in the next year, aiming to become the most competitive brand under GAC Group. But the capacity bottleneck shows an inferior strength.
If GAC Gonow Hangzhou factory and ZX Yichang factory will be transformed into Trumpchi factories, GAC Trumpchi could enlarge its annual capacity to 1m units, based on the current 600,000 units’ capacity.
GAC Trumpchi will have a more reasonable plant layout when the Hangzhou Base and Yichang Base are transformed. At that time, it will have four bases in South China, Central China and Northwest China respectively, beneficial for its marching towards into the national market.
