2018 Volvo XC40 Takes Aim At Compact SUVs And How People Buy Them
Volvo has revealed the XC40, its first entry in the popular compact crossover segment.
The new model draws heavily from its larger siblings in terms of styling and proportions, a safe bet in light of strong demand for the XC60 and XC90.
The Swedish marque is apparently hoping to attract a younger demographic, allowing customers to pick from 17 combinations of body colors and contrasting hues for the roof. Interior themes range from light khaki to bold red, with accent lighting and an optional panoramic sunroof to further enhance the experience.
The XC40 aims to one-up rivals with a solid list of standard equipment including wireless cellphone charging and a nine-inch touchscreen.
Volvo's City Safety package is also standard, providing detection and emergency autobrake for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The company has also included Pilot Assist, Run-off Road protection, Cross Traffic alert with brake support and a 360-degree camera to help maneuver into tight parking spaces.
