Following a number of photographs posted on social media, Ferrari took the veil off the Monza family. The SP1 and SP2, as the names imply, differ in two aspects. These boil down to the number of seats, cut-down windscreens, and rear fairing sections that incorporate rollover hoops.

The first members of the Icona line of super-special vehicles, the Monza family takes inspiration from Ferrari racing cars that include the 166 MM, 750 Monza, and 860 Monza. Look hard at the profile of the vehicle, and you’ll notice some 250 Testa Rossa influences as well.

The SP1 also differs from the SP2 by means of a tonneau cover, which obscures the area where the passenger seat would’ve been. Ferrari claims both models feature “the best weight-to-power ratio of any barchetta, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber in the construction.”

Being based on the 812 Superfast, the heart of the Monza is the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 derived from the 6.3-liter of the LaFerrari. In this application, the twelve-cylinder develops 810 PS (799 horsepower), translating to an acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds.

200 km/h (124 mph) comes in 7.9 seconds, and if you keep it on the red line at 8,500 rpm in seventh gear, the Monza is much obliged to exceed 300 km/h (186 mph). Turning our attention back to weight, the SP1 is rated at 1,500 kilograms (dry) and the SP2 is 20 kilograms heavier due to the second seat and additional pieces of trim and bodywork.
