2019 Porsche Macan Arrives In Paris With 2.0-Liter Turbo Engine
Porsche introduced the 2019 Macan facelift towards the end July, but it’s only now the sports car marque from Stuttgart is releasing preliminary technical specifications for the European version. Celebrating its Euro premiere today at the Paris Motor Show, the revised crossover comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine equipped with a gasoline particulate filter and benefitting from an upgraded combustion chamber geometry.
The four-cylinder mill develops 242 hp (180 kilowatts) at 5,000 rpm and 370 Newton-meters (273 pound-feet) of torque from 1,600 rpm. Connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, the engine helps the refreshed Macan perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint in 6.7 seconds and top out at 140 mph (225 kph).
As a refresher, the mid-cycle refresh Porsche has prepared for the baby Cayenne has brought a larger infotainment screen (from 7.2 inches to 10.9 inches) and an extended array of optional equipment. Extra goodies include a GT-style sports steering wheel inspired by the 911 and a new traffic assist system using adaptive cruise control allowing the vehicle to travel at speeds of up to 37 mph (60 kph). It does more than just automatically accelerate and brake as it also helps the driver remain in the correct lane.
Even more kit can be added if you’re willing to spend money on a heated windshield and/or on an air ionizer making the air inside the cabin cleaner. Porsche is taking orders from European customers for the Macan, which entered production at the Leipzig factory in Germany a little over a month ago. In its domestic market, the crossover kicks off at €58,763 and comes as standard with LED main headlights, the 10.9-inch infotainment with online services, along with an anti-theft alarm system.
