The Mercedes-AMG C63 Convertible has been spied undergoing cold weather testing.

 

Essentially a soft top version of the C63 Coupe, the convertible has an aggressive front fascia with a single bar grille and large air intakes. The model has also been equipped with sportier side skirts, a four-tailpipe exhaust system, and lightweight alloy wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system.

 

The interior will largely carry over but we can expect the convertible specific modifications including Airscarf seats and new switchgear to control the retractable soft top.

 

The entry-level model will be powered by a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be connected to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission which should enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in approximately four seconds.

 

Buyers looking for something more powerful will be able to order the C63 S Convertible which has an upgraded V8 engine with 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The extra power should allow the model to run from 0-100 kph in roughly 3.9 seconds.

 

Sticking with the performance theme, we can expect a sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip rear differential, and dynamic engine mounts - among other things.
